Teaching Leaders Schools Programme

Provided by Teaching Leaders

Overview:

The TL Schools programme is designed to develop the entire middle leadership team of a school in strategic partnership with Teaching Leaders. Every school participating in the programme will have key interactions with Teaching Leaders throughout the cycle to diagnose, monitor and evaluate impact. The structure of the training programme for middle leaders will then be tailored specifically to their school and will be designed to reflect and support the school improvement plan, whilst building on the strengths and development areas of the middle leadership team.

With the support of Teaching Leaders, the school will set ambitious targets for the development of the middle leadership team and for improving pupil outcomes. Throughout the duration of the programme, these targets will be closely monitored by the senior leadership team and through meetings with Teaching Leaders in order to ensure that they are achieved. The programme is entirely bespoke to fit each school’s needs and provides a wide choice of training and support to develop the whole middle leadership team.

Tailored programme content

Each TL Schools programme is tailored to the needs of your middle leadership team and the school improvement plan. With guidance from Teaching Leaders, schools select a minimum of four training sessions and can then tailor the plan further by adding optional elements that will empower and equip your middle leadership team to make the greatest impact on pupil outcomes.

All Schools programmes include the following:

'In consultation with TL, we developed a bespoke programme across our Multi-Academy Trust.  The programme has inspired and developed both promising and established middle leaders to reflect on their practice. In the two participating schools, GCSE five A*-C grades including English and Maths increased by 22% in one Academy and 10% in the other. The impact (on middle leaders) has been incredibly positive, with over 50% of our very first cohort moving in to substantive middle leader posts'. - Debbie Coslett, CEO, Brook Learning Trust

  • Discussion and planning sessions with Teaching Leaders

In addition, schools also have the option of selecting from over 30 additional sessions that are differentiated to work with middle leadership teams at all stages of their development, from Rapid Change, through to Core and, the most advanced, Core Plus. There are also further professional development opportunities that schools can opt into, including:

Impact

At the start of each programme, Headteachers set goals for the middle leadership team using our Middle Leadership Improvement Plan, and progress towards these goals is measured throughout.
