Behaviour or Communication?
Time to reflect on own practice, as well as tips and hints to support those pupils who present with more challenging behaviour in the classroom, with particular emphasis on pupils with SEND/ SEMH
Any primary teacher/ support staff who would like to reflect on and explore possible causes and different ways of looking at challenging behaviour in the classroom with particular emphasis on supporting pupils with SEND/ SEMH. Useful for staff who would like to delve into some of the possible reasons behaviour might be present with an opportunity to look at the communication needs behind the behaviour of those pupils who present with challenging behaviour that disrupts learning for all.
A constructive, positive focus on behaviour as communication with an emphasis on case studies, de-escalation strategies and opportunities for discussion to explore issues that settings are being faced with as they support pupils with more challenging and aggressive behaviour. There will be role play, group work activities with a mixture of theoretical and practical advice.
