Director of Education
‘I feel honoured to be in a position in which to build a platform to provide better life chances so that our next generation can move forward and become all that they can be’.
Originally from Cardiff, Christian graduated from The University of Wales in 1996. His pursuit to become a teacher was ignited by his fond memories of his own school days. Christian has worked in the South East for the last 18 years. Firstly at the Kemnal Technology College working in a variety of different positions. He was appointed as Headteacher at Debden Park High School in March 2007 when the school had recently been placed in Special Measures. Six months after joining, the school was taken out of Special Measures and categorised as ‘Good’ and in September 2009 the school was graded by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’. The school has also been nationally recognised as the 3rd most improved school in the country, is currently recorded as top of list when compared to similar schools and also received congratulations from the DfE for improvement in achievement of disadvantaged students. Christian is a National Leader in Education and has supported other schools within the trust, not just in Essex but also on the South Coast.
For Christian, a good education is about more than just the Headteacher and he associates the record breaking achievements of the school to the hard work and commitment of all stakeholders. He appreciates that no school is an island and all governors and staff working under the TKAT share this vision and ethos. He believes in sharing practices to ensure that all students are given the best opportunities to achieve their full potential. This belief has been instrumental in the development and success of all schools within The Kemnal Academies Trust.
